Steven (53) is living with major depression and anxiety and had been unable to work for six years.
Steven approached the team from atWork Australia Charlestown where he was introduced to his Job Coach, Kaila. From the outset, Kaila quickly established building a relationship with Steven to explore employment options that would be suitable whilst considering his barriers. Steven had mentioned that there were times that he felt frustrated and lacked self-esteem and motivation.
Kaila provided morale support and set about ensuring Steven that she would develop a tailored approach specific to his needs and help him to get back into employment.
During the initial discussion, Kaila reviewed Steven’s resume and made the necessary changes to demonstrate his skill set. Steven had mentioned that he had previously worked in security and, while his license had now expired, he would ideally like to get back into that area of employment.
Kaila set about enrolling Steven into a refresher course to obtain his security license along with attending the Jobs Now program, designed to provide valuable information and skills needed to get a job. Kaila also tailored cover letters to send out to Employers once Steven had completed these courses. Steven was determined to get back into employment and completed both programs.

With his security license now updated, Kaila contacted several employers promoting Steven. To provide Steven with the best possible outcome, Kaila arranged financial assistance to purchase work clothing for Steven to attend the interview.
