Rivervale local, Matthew (38) entered the atWork Australia office in Victoria Park, WA as a result of his current employment no longer being financially viable; he was seeking alternative employment option.
Disability Employment Services client, Matthew, has used employment services in the past, with no success; he was doubtful of the process but remained hopeful.
Matthew lives with chronic pain and an auto immune disease which places physical limitations, restricting types of work he can be involved with.
Matthew’s Job Coach, Michelle, got to know him, what sustainable work looks like for him and how we can work towards his employment goals, together.
Matthew outlined he had limited employment history, which effects his confidence to apply for jobs. Employer Engagement Consultant, Matthew and Job Coach, Michelle assured Matthew that would not be an issue and that he has various qualities that are very valuable to any employer.
Michelle worked with Matthew to increase his confidence, and provided financial assistance for clothing for interviews, obtaining a white card, work PPE and fuel assistance to attend interviews and first week of work.
Matthew attended each appointment with a smile on his face, ready to find the perfect job for him. He trusted the team to guide him where he needs to be. After the conclusion of each appointment, he was more comfortable and confident in his abilities.
When suitable positions became available Michelle advised him of these opportunities and referred him. He was asked to interview with a local cleaning company. He was successful in this interview and was offered this position shortly after.
Matthew was thrilled to have been offered this position as it is well suited to what he was looking for as far as available shifts, renumeration and career progression.
