Rodrigo is living with Chronic Abdominal Pain with intermittent exacerbations of pain. Due to these ongoing episodes of pain, Rodrigo was unemployed for two years.
Rodrigo had been with other DES providers in the past, however, he felt the support provided was not tailored to his specific needs. When Rodrigo was introduced to his Job Coach, Rommel, from Upper Mount Gravatt, QLD, the focus was to review his current resume and explore employment interest.
Rommel identified that there were several areas that needed to be modified to suit the needs of Rodrigo. In addition, as part of updating his resume, Rommel noticed that the existing references listed on Rodrigo’s resume were out of date and unreliable to provide a true reflection on his employment capabilities.
Rommel suggested that Rodrigo reach out to one of his former Employers and be provided with updated contact details of a reliable reference.
With his resume now updated, and given the length of time in unemployment, Rodrigo formed a strategy with a holistic approach. This included sessions to improve on interview techniques, confirmation on the types of jobs being applied for and financial assistance to get the right clothing to attend interviews.

With this new tailored approach and agreement from Rodrigo, Rommel, together with the Employment Engagement Team, started contacting Employers to discuss Rodrigo and the skillset he has to offer.
Shortly after contacting Employers, Rodrigo was invited to attend an interview with Sigma Connect. During the interview, Rodrigo implemented the tips that his Job Coach provided, and he was successful in being offered a job in Customer Service.
Rommel continues to contact Rodrigo on a weekly basis to ensure he is doing well and provide any ongoing support to him or his new employer.
