Jason has worked in multiple industries throughout his working life. However, a few years ago, Jason was diagnosed with lumbar spondylosis. Due to this health condition, Jason experiences chronic pain, limiting his physical ability and options for employment. Previously, Jason was working in a pick/packer role but could no longer perform the duties of this role.
Jason was motivated to return to work and came to atWork Australia’s Redbank Plains office in Queensland to get tailored support from the Disability Employment Services team. When Jason met his Job Coach, Tayla, he explained his health barriers and, because of his physical limitations, he was unsure of what he could do. Tayla assured Jason that atWork Australia would support him to identify suitable work and he could take his time to trial different opportunities to pinpoint the employment option that would suit his requirements.
While Jason was trialing different jobs, Tayla continued supporting him to build his confidence through interview training and connecting him with the full range of support offered by atWork Australia. This included working with Employer Engagement Consultant to contact employers on Jason’s behalf and an In-Work Support Coach, who would support Jason while he trialed different opportunities.
In-between job trials, Tayla invited Jason to attend an Employer Information session run by ICS Service Solutions. ICS Service Solutions State Manager, Glen, provided advice and an overview of the opportunities available with the business.
Jason had previously worked as a Car Detailer and the information session sparked his interest to explore the possibility to see if he could return to this position.
The atWork Australia team introduced Jason to Glen and they were able to negotiate a start date. Jason was very excited about his new opportunity and looked forward to commencing his new role. Jason’s Job Coach, Tayla, said, “Jason is always open to every opportunity and ideas that we suggest to him.
