Quote reads " Assisting someone back into employment and helping change their life is the best part of working in employment services." Kellie, Job Coach QLD

Job Coach Kellie is part of the atWork Australia team located on the Gold Coast in Queensland.

Kellie works in Disability Employment Services helping her clients find meaningful and sustainable employment.

Before she came to atWork Australia, Kellie worked for another employment services provider and moved up into a management position. For Kellie this was one of her biggest challenges as she lost the ability to help clients individually, she felt out of touch with the people she really wanted to help.

“Assisting someone back into employment and helping change their life is the best part of working in employment services,” said Kellie.

Kellie understands that working is not something we always want to do, or we may be anxious or uncertain about working. She showcases the benefits of going to a place of employment where you feel safe, contribute effectively, feel needed and wanted and get paid, can contribute to your overall health and wellbeing.

Kellie does not believe in placing clients as quickly as possible into a role but takes the time to find a role they can sustain. She makes sure her clients know they are valued and heard.

She takes a one step at a time approach as the full process can be really daunting for someone living with disability, injury, illness or health condition. She also supports her clients to figure out the right role for them.

She talks her clients through the entire process when needed, so to reduce feelings of anxiousness or overwhelm.
