Laura came to atWork Australia at a challenging time in her life; she was experiencing a family breakdown and adjusting to life as a single mother to two young children. Laura reached out to atWork Australia’s ParentsNext team at the Gosnells, WA, office to get tailored support on her employment journey.
When Laura met her Job Coach, Anne, she advised she had completed a Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing. However, she was looking to find work in a different industry. Laura shared with Anne that she was lacking confidence in her ability to find work as she has been out of the workplace for a significant amount of time while raising her children.
To begin, Anne wanted to support Laura to rebuild her confidence and thought she would benefit from participating in atWork Australia’s Positivum program. Positivum is an in-house health and wellbeing coaching program, designed to prepare participants for the return to the workforce.
After completing the Positivum program, Laura had begun to regain her confidence and belief in her ability. She decided to return to study to support her ambitions to change industries and enrolled in a Certificate III in Business. Laura was taking positive steps to achieve her goals and atWork Australia were able to support her by providing her with a laptop computer to complete her studies. Additionally, Laura has commenced studying a Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance; she is slowly working towards her goal of working in the Allied Health industry.
Anne and the Parents Next team have enjoyed being a part of Laura’s journey and supporting her to achieve her goals. Anne said, “Since Laura’s journey began with atWork Australia her confidence has continued to grow, she has been a pleasure to work with.”
Laura has been overwhelmed by the support she has received from her Job Coach, Anne, and the ParentsNext team. Laura said, “I have had a wonderful experience receiving support from Anne and the ParentsNext team. Their support has given me the confidence to enroll in a full-time course and further my education.”
Laura continues to work towards achieving her goals and is on track to start a new career in the allied health industry.
