For some clients, financial stress can be one of the biggest barriers to entering the workforce.
atWork Australia’s Workforce Australia client, Mark, found that his financial stress was holding him back from making progress towards his goals.
As a steppingstone to achieve his goals, his Job Coach, Alvin, enrolled him within Money Minded, a course that was run by Pre-Employment Facilitator, Karalyn.
The Money Minded program helps clients to make informed decisions and manage money to reduce financial stressors and barriers to employment.
Karalyn states “Mark came to the course, Money Minded, hoping to learn new ways to address his financial issues that were causing him stress and anxiety.”
“He had trouble with not being able to job search due to lack of internet/data, and not having reliable transport as he could not register his car, or get repairs done when needed. During the program, Mark was encouraged to participate and gain insight into money matters to learn of places that could assist him.”
It was identified that an added sense of confidence with his money and how to manage it would have tremendous results with his capabilities to job search. This confidence, in conjunction with the support of his Job Coach, would be the pillar to his success.
Within the course, Karalyn explained budgeting and how to create one, they discussed ‘spending leaks’ and how in turn they can affect goals. She also shared where he could find more information on where to locate additional financial assistance, if needed in the future.
Upon the completion of the program, Mark states; “The course made me aware of, and connected me with, services in my area that have immediately began assisting me alleviating nearly all my financial pressure. This has greatly reduced my anxiety and stress as well as giving me valuable tools and strategies to help with my future financial wellbeing.”
He had also mentioned how this course not only financially supported him, but also boosted his self-esteem.
