Indigenous Disability Employment Services client, Sasha, upskills and lands a position within her dream industry with tailored support from atWork Australia in Mandurah, WA.
Sasha lives with bipolar affective disorder which makes her employment journey look a little different to most. In conjunction with her lack of confidence and minimal work history, she was needing assistance in upskilling before entering her dream industry – support work.
To achieve her employment goals, she partnered with atWork Australia Job Coach, Katie. In their initial appointment together, Katie got to know Sasha; her goals, her employment past and what her ideal workplace would look like.
She highlighted that she was looking for an understanding employer who would adjust to what she needs to work efficiently. This was something that Katie promised she would find for her.
To kick start her journey to support work, atWork Australia were able to financially support Sasha and enroll her into a Certificate III in Individual Support.
Whilst completing this course, the pair worked on preparing her for work in other areas. This included preparing a brand-new resume and cover letter to impress future employers.
After several conversations about what role she would enjoy most in the industry, it was decided that domestic support would be the best choice for Sasha and her lifestyle. So, the job hunt began.
After an interview with a local employer, Sasha was successful in obtaining a domestic support role. She was thrilled.

In this next phase of her employment journey, Sasha and InWork Support Coach, Erin, were able to financially support Sasha in obtaining a laptop, clothing and fuel vouchers, all for her new position.
