Job Coach Troy likes to play Basketball, spending time with his family and has a passion for helping everyone out to the best of his ability. When Troy finished school, he was given the opportunity to work for the Department of Health and Human Services where he assisted people living with disability. Troy realised that he really enjoys helping people in need and came across atWork Australia. He decided to apply for a Job Coach position as he was inspired by the difference atWork Australia makes to the community.
The most memorable client for Troy was Lucy* who experienced substance abuse and has been to rehabilitation for several years. Troy assisted Lucy in securing a role as a Dental Assistant and Lucy told Troy how having a stable and sustainable position changed her life; a stable income and routine allowed her to resist addiction. Lucy worked in this company for several months before the company closed due to the COVID-19 lockdown. Whilst employed in this role, Lucy would contact Troy and let him know how much employment has changed her life.
Troy says: “Lucy was very excited, eager, joyous and was forever thankful when I told her about the role. I was able to change her life for the better and that will always be something I am super proud of.”
Job Coach Troy is active in the community and connected with employers. He is currently working for Stevenson Community House where he meets new and interesting people each week who have common goals. Troy helps and assists his clients in any way possible.
Troy says: “something many people don’t know about me is that I am an identical, mirror image twin.”
An achievement Troy is always proud of is when clients express to Troy that he is the best Job Coach they have ever had.
Troy says: “I love helping people and the local community to the best of my ability and I am a ‘people person’ by nature so atWork Australia is a perfect fit for me. This role is challenging however it is very rewarding and people appreciate a helping hand, especially in times of need.”
