Prace is a Victorian based adult community education provider who are committed to improving the literacy, numeracy and language needs of the local community.
The vision of Prace is to provide opportunities that build skills, confidence and hope that will help break the cycle of disadvantage and poverty, thus leading to an improved quality of life.
Prace reached out to atWork Australia Service Manager, Julie, looking for a new team member to join the Prace family. Julie was able to explain atWork Australia’s Service Delivery Model; from wage subsidies to Post Placement Support.
Julie recommended atWork Australia client, Sheridan, for an interview. Sheridan had been a client of atWork Australia since September 2020. Her Job Coach, Sara, had been helping her source suitable employers, however, the roles were not suitable for sustainable employment.
Sheridan was enthusiastic to find employment and was keen to get stuck into work, knowing the benefits employment can have on mental wellness and life in general.
Both Julie and Sara put Sheridan forward for a cleaning position at Prace and she was successful in gaining employment.
Prace took advantage of the Government wage subsidies offered and as a result, they were able to offer Sheridan her benchmark of 23 hours per week.
To date, Sheridan remains employed with Prace and really enjoys her role and working with team. Post Placement Support has been a valuable resource for the Prace team, ensuring that Sheridan has the support she needs to succeed. Prace have reported back to atWork Australia that Sheridan has settled in well and is a valued member of staff.
