Harry pivots the direction of his career with support from atWork Australia

Harry* was self-employed as a labourer when he came to atWork Australia for assistance.

He shared with his Job Coach, Ryleigh, that he enjoyed the type of work he was doing, being outside and not confined to an office or shop.

However, he wasn’t generating enough hours from his own business and was looking for support to find more stable employment.

The atWork Australia team worked with Harry to start upskilling to open more opportunities.

He completed his forklift licence and white card. He also participated in internal pre-employment programs.

During this time, Harry met with Employer Engagement Consultant, Joanne, who got to know Harry and kept an eye out for any opportunities that might suit him.

Due to being self-employed for a long time, Harry had many transferable skills such as time management, work ethics and commitment.

When Joanne was advised of the role driving new cars from the Port Kembla shipping docks to a holding yard, she approached Harry about the role.

Harry was interested in the role, so the atWork Australia team supported him to gain a Maritime Security Identification Card, and work-related clothing needed for the role.

Harry is now thriving in a unique role that was the right fit for him.

“Harry was excited to be stepping into new employment,” said Ryleigh.

Every year, atWork Australia help thousands of clients like Harry* expand their skills and qualifications to help them gain the right job with the right employer. Call us today on 1300 080 856 or enquire online to find out how we can help you meet your career goals.
