Workforce Australia client, Suyanee, attended the atWork Australia office in Ultimo looking for support to find employment. She hadn’t held paid employment for ten years.
Her Job Coach, Pravin, referred Suyanee to some of our internal pre-employment programs to build her confidence and job searching skills.
She engaged well with the courses, showing up on time and being active in the training. However, it was identified during this time that Suyanee needed additional support with her literacy, and digital literacy skills.
atWork Australia pre-employment facilitator Wendy, supported Suyanee to create a resume via Microsoft word, which was a big achievement in building her skills.
“In addition to helping Suyanee build her resume, we practiced mock interviews a few times,” said Wendy.
“She became more confident with understanding interview questions, and interview techniques to answer those questions.”
Suyanee was looking for full time work in customer service. To support her applications, she was enrolled in a barista training course.
When she was ready, Pravin began to call employers on Suyanee’s behalf. He was able to organise an interview at a local café.
She was supported to top up her public transport card to attend the interview.
Feeling prepared and confident to interview, Suyanee was successful and landed the role.
