Brendan was living with an unmanaged mental health diagnosis of anxiety and was looking for a role. He reached out to atWork Australia in Launceston where he met Job Coach Kristina.
Kristina assisted Brendan with accessing counseling and worked through the Positivum module with Brendan during his appointments. This gave Brendan some confidence in understanding his anxiety and gave him the tools to better manage his health and wellbeing.
Brendan regularly attended his counselling sessions and appointments. He developed coping skills and progressed very well. Job Coach Kristina supported Brendan with his job search, writing cover letters and identifying suitable jobs for his skill set.
Kristina also referred Brendan to Youth Futures for a volunteering gardening role where he gained more confidence in himself and received recognition from staff on his high standards of work. Brendan had the opportunity to improve his mental and physical fitness in a working environment.
Job Coach Kristina referred Brendan to the Jobs Now Program and his Customer Service Consultant assisted him with making his job applications stronger aassisted nd educated Brendan on platforms he can use and develop his handwriting.
Kristina says: “The Jobs Now Program opened Brendan’s eyes to the opportunities that he had not even considered for himself.”
Brendan was supported with obtaining a Police Check to provide to employers and Brendan was more confident when applying for positions, in the past he would doubt himself and his ability to apply for online vacancies.
Kristina says: “Brendan trusted people around him providing support and took many steps he didn’t think he could, now, he has shown himself that he can manage social situations and is using electronic devices, where in the past this would have created problems for him.”
Employer, JBS Australia, reached out to atWork Australia in Launceston. They required staff to work as meat packers. Kristina spoke to Brendan about this vacancy. Brendan asked to be referred to this role and Kristina collaborated with JBS Australia, sending through all the required documentation.
With the assistance of Job Coach Kristina, Brendan was able to secure a role at JBS Australia.
Brendan was given a site tour and asked to attend a medical check. This process went well for Brendan and he attended his full day induction.
