Workforce Australia client, Dallas, was first connected to atWork Australia in GeorgeTown, TAS, in early 2023. At 63-years-old, and having been unemployed for a few years, he had lost his confidence when it came to employment.
He shared with his Job Coach, Isabel, that he needed work in the local GeorgeTown area, and something that considered his physical barriers.
Initially, Dallas thought something like a cleaning role, that he could do part time might be a suitable option for him.
Isabel referred Dallas to an internal program which combined wellness modules through our Positivum program and micro-credentials through recognised training.
As Dallas worked with our professional wellness team, the atWork Australia team could see his confidence beginning to grow.
Isabel also referred Dallas to the ‘Launch into Employment’ program. The program supported by the Tasmanian Government supports clients to launch into their careers by better understanding themselves, their qualities and how to develop a career pathway plan.
Dallas enjoyed the program so much he went on to complete volunteering hours as a mentor in the program.
“It was within this program that Dallas really thrived,” said Isabel. “Through mentoring and being able to connect with others in the community, Dallas’ confidence grew.”
With Dallas’ confidence at an all-time high, Isabel knew he was ready for employment.
Together with the local Employer Engagement Consultant, Brendan, the atWork Australia team found a suitable role for Dallas as a Kitchen Hand at the local aged care facility.
The team supported him to gain a Police Check and helped him prepare for his new role.
“Dallas said he is loving his new role and his new employer,” said Isabel.
