Hire-A-Hubby in Hoppers Crossing, Victoria, is a handyman service whose goal is to provide a complete handyman service in local offices, homes, and factories.
Local branch owner, Grant, is a long-time user of employment services, so when In-Work Support coach, Lauren reached out stating that she had an eager candidate for his business, he was ecstatic.
After meeting and interviewing, Disability Employment Services Client, Alex, they knew that he would be the perfect fit for their growing business.
“Alex has become a valued member of the Hire-A-Hubby team. His mentor and supervisor, Brendan, has been patient and taken the time to show Alex a great set of skills that now enables him to work independently.”
On-site visits from the Cranbourne team not only allow Alex to show off his new skills, but it is also a great opportunity for Grant and Lauren to discuss any additional support that the business needs.
“Every day Alex is one of the first to greet me when I get to the office. He is always ready with a huge smile, and ready to go attitude.” Said, Business Owner, Grant.
In April this year, Alex will celebrate a year in this role. Lauren states that, “Grant and the Hire-A-Hubby team have been instrumental in the transformation of social and life skills. His confidence is wonderful to see”
Grant and the Hire-A-Hubby team appreciate the pre-screening of candidates, financial support, and guidance that employment services provide.
The Hire-A-Hubby team did not have to implement any workplace modifications to cater to employees living with disability.
